Ed Braclik's BGT - the saga of a K series VVC Conversion

The pictures below are Ed's current project, a VVC K series engine in his BGT!

Below, the story unfolds in the pictures, but for a detailed breakdown of the conversion...the drama of making it fit!

First, a video of the finished product

Here are a couple of pictures of the starting day……..

I hope to have one in 3 months instead of 3 guys pushing a green monster, a grey VVC powered B driving out…………..

As you can see from the company, she is in good company in the workshop though! Currently in-between an MGA, MG TD and an MG TC

In case you are wondering where it's all happening...

An Update - 12th April 2006

The engine is out, and the new VVC unit is attached to the Ford box via the Caterham bellhousing.

An Update - 29th May 2006

As of this week the car has started but not yet driven under its own power!  It's off to the body shop now!

Note the panel work has been replaced with V8 metal and radiator.

The heater box has been removed and a cold air-feed will take its place.

An Update - 29th July 2006

Well done, Ed!  And the chaps at Auto Body Services.

The car is complete!

It also looks very different to the car in the last few photos above! It will also be featured shortly in Enjoying MG.

However a few photos below showing some of the modifications in the engine bay area.

And the finished article! Well done, Ed and the chaps at Auto Body Services!

October 2006 issue of MGOC's Enjoying MG magazine has the car featured on the front cover, with an accompanying article in side.  Tim Fenna has been making some modifications to the rear as the car has proven to be a skittish at high speed.  Given the weight reduction and the fact the engine is set further back than originally, the front end is not coping on the stiffer springs, plus the rear axle is not locating as well.  Hopefully, Ed will have more of an update shortly.

September 2007

Some recent photos from Ed showing his new throttle bodies.  Ed's car has also appeared in print yet again as part of the Dave Walker column in Practical Performance Car, where it went on the rolling road giving a very respectable >180bhp.
