K Series VVC Feature Car This car belongs to Mick and was seen at Stoneleigh 2006 and the photographs below were sent to me by Ed Braclik whilst researching his conversion. Below is an overall view of the installation looking exceptionally neat and as good as if it came out the factory, if not better!
Notice that the heater unit has made way for the air-intake, and heating is now provided via an internal unit in the passenger footwell. The derestricted breathing and removal of catalytic converter has allowed the 143bhp engine to run at 157bhp on the rolling road in this installation. The alternator has been fitted on a custom bracket to move it from the lower left where it would foul the chassis rail.
The original clutch master cylinder has made way for the adapted cable operated clutch. As on the rubber bumper cars, the radiator is well forward of the engine which should allow for easy changes of the cam belt! The position is largely dictated by the use of the Ford Type 9 5 speed box using the adaptor kits available.
Overall a fantastic looking job and a credit to Mick.
